This is a model of the x-13 Vertijet, experimental VTOL jet aircraft developed in the US in the 50's. The main objective of the project was to demonstrate the ability of a pure jet to vertically takeoff, hover, transition to horizontal forward flight, and vertically land.
This 3D model was made and rendered in Modo 201 in 2007 for the San Diego User Group challenge of modelling the SD Airspace Museum and its aircrafts. It was a blast! Jeff Rutan kept everyone motivated during the project and I am sure that everyone who participated learned a lot about Modo and from each-other during their project.
